Q1. Are we able to apply a tint to a lens that is already multicoated?
No
Q2. Are we able to tint Trilogy, polycarbonate or 1.61 Index lenses?
Yes. Opticare has hardcoating facilities that allow these lenses to be tinted.
Q3. Which lens material is recommended for rimless fittings.
Trilogy is the number one choice recommended by Opticare. It is so strong that it comes with a life time warranty against cracking. Polycarbonate, 1.61 or 1.67 index lenses are also used by Opticare but Trilogy is a far superior product for rimless.
Q4. What type of machinery does Opticare hard coat and multicoat it’s grind lenses with?
Opticare has state of the art multicoating machinery from German based company Sattis-Loh. We also have a hardcoating laboratory with machinery from Optimal Technologies a UK based company.
Q5. Which courier services does Opticare use?
Opticare NSW uses Harts Optical couriers for Sydney metropolitan, twice daily and Toll for country and interstate deliveries. Opticare Victoria uses Optical Courier Service for Melbourne metropolitan and Toll for country and interstate.
Q6. Does Opticare service New Zealand?
Yes. We can arrange FED EX or EMS deliveries to New Zealand.
Q7. Opticare fit wrap around style Base/8 Base sunglasses?
Yes. We do offer this service. Opticare has many years of experience in this area and we’re able to achieve outstanding results however it should be noted that there are many sunglasses that are not suitable for this type of fitting. Also many high prescriptions make wrap around lenses impossible to fit into any sunglasss frame.
Key factors that Opticare looks for when accepting or rejecting a wrap sunglass fit:
Patients RX - This is the most important factor. Any RX that is above +/- 3.00 means that the lens thickness becomes an issue. It also means that all other Key Factors become critical to the successful fit of the sunglass.
Patients P.D. - The patients P.D. should be as close as possible to the frame P.D. (Frame P.D. for single vision = Eye Size + Bridge Size). By doing this you will minimise the decentration required and ensure a thinner looking and tighter fitting end result for your customer.
Frame Bevel - This is critical to the quality of the end product. The bevel should be deep enough and wide enough to ensure that a tight fit is possible.
Frame Material - The Frame material should not be too flexible like some made from nylon material.
Flexible frames with shallow bevels mean that the lenses are more likely to "pop out".
Frame Coatings - Sunglasses with cheap paint or coatings should be avoided as they have a tendency to flake when the plano sun lenses are removed to make way for the prescription lenses.
Q8. Which major brands of lenses does Opticare sell?
Opticare uses the latest Freeform back surface progressive designs, and cater for all the visual demands placed on us today. Be it lenses for fishing or computer programmers. Call us with your needs and will give you expert advise from our highly qualified staff. We also manufacture extremely thin minus lenses using our Slimlite process.
Q9. How long does it take to receive my grind orders?
At Opticare our goal is to manufacure your lens order within 24 hours and this is achievable in most cases. Orders that require added hardcoats and multicoats usually take between 1-2 days extra. You should also allow extra time if Opticare is doing the fitting, tinting or any added tasks such as these.
Q1. Does Ocelot run under Vista?
Yes Ocelot can run under Vista (in single user mode only) but it can be affected by the numerous system settings in Vista so we do not support Ocelot running under the Vista environment at this time.
Q2. How do I update Optilink?
Download the latest version from our website. If you wish to keep your data, make a copy of the comjobs file from your current installation before proceeding. Then uninstall your current build and run the setup for the new build. After completing the setup copy your comjobs file into the new build in the C:\Optilink folder.
Q3. Can I run Ocelot on more than one computer?
Yes but you must have a separate licence for each PC that it runs on. In the case of a network with multiple installs this will include a main PC licence and network clients licence.
Q4. Do you provide software support?
We provide free support for any issues that arise that are not covered in our user guides. You will need to have a person with competent PC skills available to assist with support instructions. If you request support for an item that is already covered in in the user guide a support fee will be charged. Please read through the user guide before using your software or requesting support.
Q5. Do you provide support for our PC's if we install your software?
We do not provide PC or network support, if you require help in these areas you need to have your own IT people. We provide support for our software only and not associated PC or network issues.
